Mount St. Helens
Astoria, Oregon is a beautiful hillside town filled to the brim with Victorian homes and charm. Are you a movie buff? Visit the Goonies House and filming locations for Kindergarten Cop and The Ring. Fancy yourself a seafarer? Visit the amazing Maritime Museum, which is a hit for people of ALL ages. If you want a killer view, head up to the Astoria Column to see a massive carving of Lewis and Clark's journey westward (you can even climb to the top and throw down an airplane, if you dare). The downtown area has ample shopping, restaurants and overall beauty.
Kalama, Wa is "the small town with BIG horizons". It is an area where rail, road and water meet. It has an active port, a beautiful waterfront park and beach on the Columbia River and many antique shops and restaurants to explore on its main street.
Portland is known for keeping it weird and that is true, but Portland is a destination worth exploring. With more restaurants than you could eat at in a lifetime, vibrant neighborhoods to explore (each with their own flavor), a thriving art community (you can catch a show almost any night of the week) and wonderful activities for families (like the Zoo and The Oregon Museum of Science and Industry).
