Bill and Irene Flowers purchased Camp Kalama RV Park in the 1980's when it was little more than an oak tree grove, dirt sites and a lone fishing cabin. They spent the next 30 plus years tirelessly upgrading the Camp Ground, nearly doubling its size, to the beautiful vacation destination it is now. They added modern bathroom facilities, laundry facilities, a cafe, two playgrounds and a general store.
After their passing, their children and grandchildren took over running the business and added a bottle bar for guests 21 and over.
Friendly staff. Quiet campground. Showers, laundry , playground for kids, volleyball court, well stocked store, fish cleaning station. Went on an all girls campout. We were there to float the river, very calm water. We had a dilemma how to get our truck back from up the river since I was the only sober one in the group. The staff offers to take you back to your rig after you have floated down the river.
We have enjoyed ourselves tremendously at Camp Kalama. The restaurant on site is small and cozy and has the best onion rings and deep fried mushrooms! There is a small playground for children and access to the Kalama River for fishing. In the Spring, the trees were flowering and it was so beautiful. When we returned for Summer, the grassy areas are deep green under the shade trees. The river is literally a stone's throw away. We will return again and again.
We stayed here for 3 months and we're happy with our stay. The people who work there were always kind and they never complained about our puppy. We would stay here again.
